COMMUNITY SERVICES

Through the Community Services Department, EMAA provides assistance to low-income individuals and families in our service area via five basic program components: Family Intake, Assessment and Referral, Community Outreach, Emergency Assistance, Family Support, and Self-Help Programs.

HEAD START

Head Start offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of communities in rural Missouri. There are eleven Head Start centers, offering full-day services. Over 700 children annually participate in Head Start in the eight counties EMAA serves.

WOMEN’S WELLNESS

Women’s Wellness Center services include: complete physical exams, Pap smears, breast exams, screening for anemia, cholesterol, diabetes and bladder infections, screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and vaginal infections, education and referral for HIV testing, birth control methods and pregnancy testing.

WEATHERIZATION

The Weatherization Assistance Program is designed to reduce the impact of high home energy costs for low-income residents. It helps to create a healthier, less drafty environment for people, especially the disabled, very young and elderly.

HOUSING

The St. Francois County Public Housing Agency provides rental assistance through the Section 8 Rental Voucher program which is funded by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Affordable housing is a top need… as well as quality jobs. Through strategic planning, we developed a construction company that connects people with jobs and builds affordable housing.
